Hi everyone,

I’m a chef, and I recently came across the domain MiamiDishes.com—it instantly clicked with me. It perfectly represents both my profession and the place I used to live. I found it just about an hour ago listed for $200, but now it’s already up to $250.
Is this a normal price jump in such a short time? Or could someone have noticed interest?

To be honest, I’m strongly considering buying it for a future food-related project—maybe a recipe blog or a local food review site. I’m not just any random browser; this domain is deeply personal to me.

If I go ahead and build a blog around it, I’m thinking of monetizing it with AdSense, since it has great brand potential and could attract strong organic traffic over time.

Appreciate any insights!

First of all, you shot your credibility with the original post.

As far as the domain goes, it's not one I would expect to sell to an end user.

It is available in comparable cities like Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Atlanta, Boston, etc.

In fact, Miami and LA are the only top 15 cities the term is taken in.

The metrics show the domain is not as good as you appear to believe it is.

If availability in other cities determined value, then .coms like NewYorkPizza or LAHomes wouldn't be premium — yet here we are. Sometimes it's not about quantity, it's about context and potential. But thanks for the generic advice.

However, when you take terms like "homes", "pizza", etc. those are going to be taken in every major city.

"Homes" is taken in every one of the top 300 cities, and most for 20+ years.

"Pizza" is taken in the top 128 cities. The best one available is Beaumont.

There is really no demand for the term "Dishes". For "Restaurants" or "Food", there is more demand.

MiamiFood.com is actually a pretty good domain.

Interesting point, Brad — but if we follow your logic, that makes MiamiDishes.com even more valuable.
Food is a massive part of Miami’s identity — culturally and commercially — much more so than, say, BostonDishes.com.
When a brand aligns with a city's character, it’s not just a domain — it’s positioning. And that’s where the real value lies.

Thnks but I’m not competing with MiamiFood.com.
I’m targeting the next Miami food brand that wants identity, not just traffic.
Generic sells. Unique sticks.
