i wouldnt choose a domain in either one of those extensions unless its an extremely good domain hack which would most likely already be taken.

ditto. May not be worth reg fee unless it meets that criteria or you can develop.

But, yes, there are very few registered, reason being there is not much market for them. But if you need a specific keyword, or short acronym - they just might have it.
