Hmm, I don't think there has a BEST place to sale domains... There are many marketplaces and forums an each of them good at some aspect only.

BTW, flippa is for sale websites, not domains. Am I right? (I never heard this before and just google it after reading this thread)

Sedo and (Rick) Latona are my only experience with selling/listing domains, so I can't speak for the others. I didn't vote because, IMO, there's not a 'best' place to sell.. it just depends on your domain name(s), timing, demand, your target buyer(s), etc.

Have you tried Godaddy Auction? i prefer park domains on sedo, but it's really hard to get a sale.

Flippa is for website sales. If you don't have your common domain developed, it is rarely possible to sell.
Ebay is a good place to buy domain...not to sell...
sedo, only if your domain is great...or never sold~

It is very important where you list your names. It is not as important to list them everywhere. The best way to sell a domain name is to find the buyer yourself and give the middle man some time off or keep them looking for sales on your other domain names. There are many places to list "For Sale" but be sure to do research before you list at auction houses and before you agree to the terms of the sales contract. It is good to use multiple sales venues to advertise your names. Sedo I personally recommend for finding and making end user sales. Forums can help with quick flips to resellers and developers for a quick return on investment(s)as well.

My best sales on hand regged or dropped $7 domains sold for mid to high x,xxx all happened from the parked page inquire link which can go to your own email address or your own domain sales site. Have sold some at Sedo, Moniker before they moved their market to snapnames etc... but best in terms of ROI all happened from direct negotiation from a parked page link between myself and end user with no middle man. Sedo would probably be the strongest aftermarket but I generally prefer direct negotiations over anonymous aftermarkets.

If low end domains without end user potential then forums can work. If holding domains that scream end user than patience is your best friend and direct sales would be preferred.

Best market depends on the domain at hand but generally you wanna tap into end users over domainers for maximum ROI.

Thanks for all the tips everyone. I'm new to buying and selling domains and I always wondered where to sell the domains I already own!

By the way, I've also looked into eBay - why is it a good place to buy domains but not to sell?

The buyers at Ebay are mostly domainers looking for good domain names to resell.

Depends on your domain, but if it in the sporting niche then you can fire off a load of emails to retailers, if it is in the nursery business you can let people in the flower growing business that you have a great name for sale (nursery in England is known both for pre-school and plant shop), similarly for computer hardware...

After a while you will build up a portfolio of people you have previously contacted so your research will get easier in time.

The initial research for finding 100 potential buyers may take a few hours on average, sending off the emails, maybe an hour and if you follow them up bi-monthly you can remind them it is available.

If no one wants it after that time then consider selling it to another domainer or cutting your losses.

By the way, a domainer will not pay you end user prices, but it is better than nothing in most cases, and chances are they will have domains they cannot shift either. Better to get back some cash than letting a domain drop simply because of some misplaced sense of indignation and greed.

Of course there are many other ways to sell domains, but contacting people who would have use for them the most would be the way I would go if I were you, and not just those on the top page of Google, if they already dominate then why would they want to buy a domain off us?
