Im pondering this situation. As many of us here classify ourselves as "webmasters" do you have your own email account @yourdomain.com or do you use one of the freebie email places there is out there.

The reason i ask is beacuse i just sold the site i have used for my email address over the past year. Should i replace with a network name i wont sell or shall i choose a freebie email place?

Also if i took my own domain option what could i do with the site?

Look forward to some input hopefully :D

Thanks,
Darren

I use f.siddiqui (at) evibe.nl

evibe.nl is my company and i have unlimited use of storage.

I wouls suggest to you to take one domain and make it really yours.
Just use it for email.
You don't really have to make a website (tho a blog always is nice)

(i could not live with the thought that i would lose my email address)

Why not just forward the emails from your website(s) to one email address, hence maintaining a professional look while having a single account? If you are uncertain about whether or not you will be keeping your domains and/or websites, I believe this will serve as your best option. Consequently, the type of your primary email address should not matter, since the emails from โ€œ[email protected]โ€ would merely be forwarded to it.

I use my schools email. The reason I use this is because there is no spam. It is so hard with free email accounts because nothing is ever legite.

indeed your decision is a good one. I also do the same thing. It is much better to forward a few mail accounts to a common repository ! Gmail is one of the best option.

I use Gmail for whois/spam/potential spam
Hotmail for my personal stuff, Paypal and my domain and parking accounts.

and...

Domain email only for occassional email. If I want to keep my other emails secret for example or for "Email me"/"Email us" links on a site, I'll use the corresponding email address.

I just use Gmail. I'm constantly selling domains; the last time I used a domain as a main account, I sold it and had to use another domain, which I also sold. I got sick of doing that, so I just made it easy and started using a Gmail account.

I have my main account on a domain that I own. I like the air of professionalism with having your own domain email account. It also helps advertise my business when I send it to others.

I have a Gmail personal email address, and then for all my other websites, I create an email address and forward them to my Gmail account. Then in Gmail you can configure it to change the from address to whatever account the person emailed.
