Do suspended domains expire and go into pending delete?

They go into redemption period first which can still be well over 60 days from expiration and then go into pending delete where you still need to wait before you can buy.

0-45 days for Auto Renew Grace period. (Registrars decide length of this period.)
30 days Pending Delete Restorable. (Fixed)
5 days Pending Delete. (Fixed)

The problem is that some registrars will try to sell off the domain name once it expires thus short-circuiting the process.
