I have a site with 150 uniques per day and someone is interested in advertising a banner at the top of the page.

How much should I get them to pay?

Sorry if this is the wrong forum, but looking at all of them, I couldn't work out which. I suppose this is a marketing technique and generates income for the site, which is the point of marketing. Plus I will be going out and promoting this ad space for sale.

thanks

This depends on your site, the size/type of the banner, and the quality of the traffic. You might want to start by working it out on a CPM basis. You get 4,500 uniques a month, so if you were charging $10 CPM then that would be $45/month. Some people might say that's on the low side, but without knowing more I'd say that's a fair place to start.

I agree start with $10 per CPM.

If you can get $10 CPM that would be great, but after negotiations, that will probably end up being around $5 CPM in reality.

You could get $3 on a forum with a bit of luck. So I would think that $10 is perhaps even a bit on the low side.

Well it also depends on the content of the website. $3 on a forum is pretty good, but yes, over $10 CPM is achievable for a website with that traffic.
