Domain Name Business is by far better and more profitable than webhosting IMHO. Being new in webhosting, you really gotta work your butts off to make it profitable but by acquring few good names and with option of developing them can help make good amount of money.

Hosting. The ROI is excellent--if you have enough to invest, because it takes a lot of cash to out-advertise the competition. But once established, a solid web hosting business can do very, very well. Customer loyalty is the key, as most people who signup wtih a web hosting just keep renewing year after year, which translates to ~ $100 in revenue per year, whereas a .COM domain name translates to ~ $10 year.

There's a reason Y!, Wal-Mart and other big corporations are jumping into the game. They've crunched the numbers and seen how profitable hosting can be.

As always, IMO.

I tried webhosting for no more than 1 mon and i quit. because I realize i have talent on names. But currently I have not enough money to invest.
Why webmasters must use your "one person company" for hosting while there are a lot of giant hosting company out there providing decent prices and services than yours.
However, if you "happened" to own a great name, you will make a fortune ten times more in a few minutes. It uses your sensitivity and insight.

Web hosting can be a lot more time constraining. As a hosting company you are usually obligated to provide service and support 24/7 to compete. If a company's site is down, they want it back up NOW, not Monday morning. I'm a hosting reseller, but only provide it for companies, friends, and organizations that understand and won't expect immediate support.

With domains, I can go on vacation without too much worry I'm losing customers. If I only checked email twice a week, I would probably not lose an offer. With public hosting, you really need a staff to handle things all the time.
