Why would they accept to buy it when they can can it for free?

Yes they can easily throw few $K's, but they can't take it unless it meets UDRP requirement ($1500 fee included)

but the domain is registered (2006) before whatsapp started (2009) !!? It's like if you create a brandable domain like WOXO.com , and 5 years later a company start their business under that name WOXO , so they willl sue you to give them the domain name for free or what ?!

That might be true for people who are using it, but how about people who aren't using it, like me?

I'm not even using a 'smartphone' and english isn't my first language, the first time I heard from it was from friends, and they spelled it all in a different way.

if WOXO name was unused until a company trademarked the term for a specific business category and if the old WOXO name page was violating (parking money) the new company's business, then it meets UDRP requirement and the new company can win the case. I am not experienced with UDRP, just sharing my knowledge. Feel free to confirm with others.

hmmm this is a question I've wanted answered too about TM. you seem to be in a great position since you registered it prior. might be a good time to hire a lawyer?

you are definitely in a better position than me. I registered a domain that looks like this (Keywords.com)
but the company in question owns (the+keywords+.com) I registered AFTER this company was already in business. didn't really do much homework. I just liked that sound of the domain even though it was a long tail (three words). so you are definitely in a better position than me.

if I were you I'd hire a Trademark lawyer to perhaps negotiate a deal. just make sure to factor into the sticker price your lawyer fees.

doing any other way would be foolish and dangerous. I think even contacting them about having this domain would be grounds for losing your domain? can anyone confirm?

lol why not just sign up for mature content affiliate programs. slap a link rotate on simple webpage and just send traffic to a bunch of affiliate links going to mature content? that way no issues with you getting in trouble for using the domain to profit from the similarity to WhatsApp? since WhatsApp I'm sure isn't about mature content. unless I am mistaken?

I bet once they see what WhatApp is linking too. lol well....who knows? i know it's like blackmail but...what can you do right now? you just have a blank page yes? and those renewals won't pay for themselves. lol

of course that's just my newbie ideas. better consult a pro before you listen to me. lol
