So i go to pull up 'optical illusions' sites on google search for my young nieces. what do i get in the results? soft porn images. And i'm not browsing images either, i'm using google's main search page.

i couldn't shut the laptop fast enough.

I'm not a prude or anything, but we're talking about 6,5,4, and 3 year olds.
I think that google should take more steps to keep this crap from normal searches. I mean, come on...'optical illusions' = 'some ho's big fat @$$?

Second of all, anybody that doesn't take steps to protect these kinds of images from kids is a closeted pedophile

If somebody wants to be involved with porn, hot sexy shots, semi porn, great go for it.....but be responsible enough to keep it away from kids.

You must have it set to safe search off, with that off, everything is porn.

it's those damn universal search results... there was quite a stir about them a while back when pornographic images came up for the phrase "new bathroom."

SEOs should boycott optimizing those kind of sites :D

A few years back there was a question either on TV or on another website asking what was the name of the Dragon Fly or what ever creature it was the Crazy Legs Crane use to chase. I did a search on Crazy Legs Crane and also the Pink Panther. The results I received weren not quite what I expected. It coped alright with the word pink, but unfortunately it linked it to another name for a cat which unfortunately didn't get me any closer to finding out the answer to my question. The crazy legs crane search was just plain wrong, the results were so obscure.

Yeah, I have seen a few adult sites pop up in searches for sites designed for children and also seen a few adult sites being placed on typos of kids sites. Why an adult site would want to rank highly for a keyword related to a child site I don't know, surely they are the exact opposite of what you want.

If you actually look at the picture its one of those joke pictures. It reads, "Optical Illusion A very good optical illusion: if you look at the picture carefully, after a few seconds, you can see a boat in the background."

I mean unless you have someone manually looking at these searches its pretty much impossible to filter these images out. The reason is because it does not relate directly to "softcore porn" or "porn.

To be totally honest the picture really isn't that bad but for a 6 year old to see would not be to good.

that isn't an 'optical illusion'
let's be honest here....

the picture is really offensive to be on the front page of google, and to have 4 small young children around me during the time.

Why not report the images

Flag the images / sites to Google, even if you had the filter on some sites always slips through Google's filter net.

The search engines are getting better, 8 years ago when I was taking classes at collage hard-core porn would always pop up in all sorts of searches. I't sucked sitting in a classroom full of people and then have hard-core porn pop up on your monitor.
Some of that crap you couldn't close, you had to turn off the computer.

Sleazy porn web masters..
