What is with these late night quiz shows?

I have somewhere in the region of 15 good channels on my TV. At this precise minute, 2:30am, 4 of them are showing these dumb quiz shows that last for hours.

Viewers call up a premium rate number and answer a question to win cash.
It basically consists of one annoying presenter asking one question every half-hour and stringing the rest of the show out with relentless chatter.

What about people like me who like to watch late night repeats or music videos?

There's no comedies, no late night movies, no music videos (both music channels are showing quiz shows) and I can't find a decent cop or detective show anywhere!

I miss the good old days when I could sit up 'til 6am watching re-runs and bad movies. :(

That is why I have a dish with 500 channels and a TiVo that has online access so I can listen to podcasts at night without having to download and listen through my MP3 or PC. I also have wireless headphones connected to the TV so I can listen without being disturbed!

Come over to the U.S. We have plenty of bad movies and horrible music videos at night...not to mention Trojan ads that late and Girls Gone Wild, lol.

I miss shows like The District, Jack and Jill, Off Centre, The Drew Carey Show, The Norm Show, Philly, Dharma and Greg and my favourite of them all, Nash Bridges.

There's still a few bad-ish ones still on: Action and The Practice being the only two I can think of right now.

I never thought I'd say this but I miss bad TV!

Isn't Dharma and Greg ending this week??

'The Mint'.

Its painful watching them try and fill 15 minute gaps between the times they take a call. Which is always 'filtered', usually to find somebody with a wrong answer.

They do this to try and make it seem like the line is clear and we can get straight through.

I HATE THESE PROGRAMS!!

I'm glad I'm not the only one! It's only getting worse. Now there's dedicated channels for this crap. How many more channels are gonna turn over their night time schedules?

I'll have to start sleeping nights just to be able to watch some good, bad TV in the day. :)

Are you perhaps thinking of Will & Grace? That is ending as are several other shows that I am all too happy to see go "bye-bye" and make way for something new. Sadly some ass will replace them with more of this "reality tv" BS. The funny thing with the Reality BS is that a ton of people tell you how much they hate it, how they don't even watch it, yet the production companies are pumping out more and more of these crappy shows, so SOMEONE is watching it. Hell, they even have a Reality TV channel now, FOX Reality that shows nothing but re-runs of all the reality shows. Arrrrrrrrrrrgh!

Thank the good Lord for Discovery Channel, TLC, History Channel, The Military Channel and Net Flix!

Theres a show like that on GSN called PlayMania... you send a text message to a number at $.99 a message and hope you get called back to win some cash. It's not as drawn out as "every half hour" but its still pretty annoying.
