What is the criteria for a successful minisite

Hi..i am thinking seriously of taking a couple of names off parking and having mini sites developed, hopefully to increase revenue. To select the names, what is the most important things i should be looking for...the theme of the name...i.e marketing, finance etc, keywords in the name, existing traffic, overture, wordtracker etc etc.

I understand adsense may take a few months to kick in so are minisites a good option if a parked name is curently earning a dollar or so a day?

I am thinking of 2 proxies with high traffic, 2 x bands pearljam.us and thekillers.us and germanshepherds.asia.

Are blogs a better way to go?

Any help much appreciated.

Why not keep the proxies as proxies? :o Band names are pretty good but do look out for TM issues. :]

I have just set up a minisite: http://incometaxefiling.in. It's already earning >$1 per day and I am very much happy since it (along with incometaxefiling.co.in) used to earn almost 0 in Sedo. I believe you should go for existing type in traffic domains if you are looking to give yourself confidence and motivation to build more mini sites in the future.

I like the site...the color scheme is calming even though the topic can be stressful for people! I hope this is not off topic - what program did you use to build it? Or did you have someone build it for you?

OP, I posted a similar thread and was told that it's a combination of your ability to generate traffic with your true interest and experience with the topic (so it's interesting and easy to rotate and change content).

He used Wordpress - you can get a free E-book on how to set up minisites using Wordpress from Caroline Middlebrook - http://www.caroline-middlebrook.com/blog/niche-sites-wp/ - the E-book is good if you've never used Wordpress as it is not the most user-friendly program in the world - she recommends a hosting company but I would suggest using Hostgator - you can get the first month for 1 cent using the right code (which I've forgotten but which you can find here on NP)

I've got a couple of minisites up and running but so far the visitors and clicks are provigin elusive ! You can see 2 of them below (Andrei Arshavin and Warren Buffett)
