question What is PreRelease?

Hi,
I want to know what is Prerelease? Is it an auction? and multiply people can bid and the highest bid win the name? how presrelease works? should I bid on Prerelease domain name? any idea? little help?

You really need to be more specific about which aftermarket you are seeing this wording. But generally it's an auction where the domain has expired, and can be bought before it goes into Registrar Redemption. this usually occurs at 45 days after expiry for .com domains. All GoDaddy's Expiring Auctions are Pre-Release Auctions, for example. Although they never refer to them as Pre-Release Auctions.

In NameJet, Pre-release is the time before domain goes into public auction.

Pre-Release means the domain is auctioned off sometime before the domain is returned to the Registry.
If you win the auction there is still a small chance the original owner will renew the domain and you lose the domain.

In the case of GoDaddy Pre-Release Auctions. Only domains at non-GoDaddy Registrars are subject to this risk. All Domains registered at GoDaddy there is zero risk you will not receive the domain.
