1) It gets dropped.
2) The lawyer will handle it and pass it onto his siblings.

I was wondering about this my self, so I checked it out, looks like it would be handled just the same as the rest of the deceased's estate, so including your domain names in your will is a good idea. But if the domain expires all rights are lost and it possibly could be auctioned off by the registrar after usual grace period.

I had been in contact last year with a family - where their father passed away and the domain was going to expire. The wife was older, and really had no clue about even to access her password. I would've paid them for the domain name, but Im not sure she would have been able to complete the transaction so I just dropped the subject. The domain expired and eventually went to Auction where it was sold, and she wouldnt receive much of anything for it.

I remember this subject came up in general discussion shortly after Sept. 11th, IMHO. :'(

Facts are, there are likely many, many quality domains registered by folks ... in which very few who are closest to them know much about the domains, or would have any clue as to how to properly manage / renew them, etc. If you truly value your domain investments, keep a copy of the list (along with expiration dates, Registrars (usernames and passwords)), hosting details, etc. somewhere safe and easily accessible to those who care most for you (and your family, heirs, estate, etc.)! :xf.love: :snaphappy: :imho:

Just my two sense.

Here is an interesting concept that I found, these guys say they will look after your website after your gone from this world. Is there really life after death for your website. http://www.afterlife.org/

Or the lawyer transfers the domain into his own account :td:

Never trust lawyers, most of them are liers.

I do not have a "list" of my domains (since it changes daily), but I do have all the registrar's that I use along with login info, in a safe with the rest of my important paper work. I have told 3 people about it, so if anything happened they know what to do. It is always good to have a trusted friend in the domain world as well, that one of your loved ones could contact with any questions. IMO

Well, didn't want to offend any lawyers that might be here on NP, if any. :)
