First off I want to thank everyone who has taken the time to help me get to this point.

With that said, I have secured two domain names for an upcoming outdoor enthusiasts community and was hoping all of you could help me choose the best domain to use...I will just redirect the other to the site. If you feel both name are horrible, please feel free to make suggestions :)

outdoor-forums.com
or

theoutdoorforums.com

Thanks in advance for your insight!

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
GoDaddyGoDaddy
develop them into forums.

Yes that is the plan...I was looking for feedback on which one I should use, the other I will just redirect to that site. :)

Thanks for the response chillaxin! Just was not sure if the 'the' in the url was worse than having the hyphen :)

I dont like the "the" in a name. Not crazy about a hyphen either.
No better name ideas?

I tried everything with the word outdoor that had something to do with community or forums and there was nothing. Very frustrating!

Outdoor-Forums is far superior because it does not have any superfluous words in it just to try to avoid the hyphen, do not worry about losing any traffic to the unhyphenated version, believe me...you will lose far more by trying to shove an extra word that doesn't mean anything on the front end.

People seriously do not type in domains much anymore in great numbers since going to search engines is easier, and the more you base your entire strategy around those mythological creatures who probably never even existed in the first place the more you will lose out in the future.

If you have a forum with a hyphen in it, people are not going to join a forum without it because they have gotten to know the community. It is what you do with your site, not one single character that will set you aprat; unless your site is crap.

If you do decide to not listen to reason, what happens when someone comes along and rgisters "best outdoor forums" then "better outdoor forums" then "great outdoor forums" and then, and then, and then...

Get "outdoor-forums" because at least then it is absolutely no confusion over what it is, either now or in the future when it matters. Or offer some serious wedge to the person who has the existing domain.

Also I have checked that a shorter & easy remember one for your reference:

outdoor-go . com appears to be available, and it is unregistered at this moment.

Hope a little help.
