I am looking at dedicated servers and have the option of 4 different control panels with my hosting. I have only had a shared server running off of helm, and dont know if there is something better. Any advice on whats the best value?

Cpanel/WHM with fantastico 20$
Helm 25$
Plesk with powerpack 100 20$
Plesk with powerpack Unlimited 30$

All of them are good, especially Plesk if you're an experienced user. cPanel will do, too ;)

well i would prefer Cpanel for beginners and if you are advanced then plesk is the best , so i agree with vip-ip. Also, there is a new one like S cpanel i think which allows something to do with Shoutcast.

cPanel is probably one of the more popular choices.

CPanel is great for beginners, specially customer-wise. Plesk, IMHO, is less of a resource hog, and a lot more stable if administered well. I go with CPanel for most of my servers, because of client's preferences, though.

I have tried both, plesk is kind harder from Cpanel and Especially Cpanel's X Theme is very user freindly!

I definately prefer Cpanel myself. It's pretty clean, features are easily accessible, and easy to use.

You made a great choice, Tgo.

I would agree with cPanel on this issue for new users and for those running their own hosting sites. Most ask for it anyways.

Cpanel with RVSKIN or CPANEL XP EVOLUTION is just great. I'm using Cpanel for years and won't change :p

Cpanel is typically the preferred control panel. There are a few others--personally I prefer using VHCS (though amoung the free panels, WebCP is pretty good too). CPanel and Plesk have a LOT of added features, but in my experince most of the trinkets are not used. My own clients don't even see the control panels typically--they ask me to handle things for them. In that situation, VHCS works fine. Downside on the free ones is the experise in doing the configuration--it requires some skill.

cPanel, Ensim, and DirectAdmin are my favorites. cPanel is probably the panel of choice for the beginner and is probably the most popular in the shared/reseller environment. However, all of those listed are good CPs in their own right.
