So what does everyone think of .Asia and will you or have you ordered any names, what type are you going to go for - names, numbers, LLL, NNN etc? Cities, landmarks, industries, Chinese, Japanese words? What do you think investments will be like in a year, how much do you think premium domains will be worth in the future? Is it worth investing in some?

So what is the application fee.

And No I don't think there is a way for you to tell, as far as I know. And this is kinda dumb because I know a lot of people would not want to bother reging something knowing that it will go to the auction.

And lets face it, if someone post what they reg, it may stop other people who were wanting to reg it not. At the same time if the person really wants it bad and is willing to bid on it on the auction, then either way he or she is going to reg it anyways.

The will just make it easier on both sides. It's a win win situation except for the greedy domain companies.

I agree. There should be a method to know if someone applied for it or not. I don't want to go into auction except for maybe a few names. No need wasting my time and funds regging something that will go to auction.

Code:
Thank you for contacting Online Support.

To register a .ASIA domain, at least one of your registration contacts must reside in the Asia-Pacific region. Depending on the group you're affiliated with, such as a business applying for a trademarked name, you can complete an application for your .ASIA domain and submit it during the appropriate timeframe. The process is:

* Complete your application, which includes Domain Name, Registration Term, Registered Name, Registration Number, Registration Country, Application Date, Registration Date, Form of Entity, Registered Class, and Pre-verification Number.
* Submit your application during the appropriate timeframe. For more information, see What is .ASIA?.
[B]* When you apply for the domain, we charge you an application fee, if applicable, and the registration fee. If the domain is rejected, we refund the registration fee.[/B]
* Registrants are notified of successful registrations following the conclusion of the phase in which their domain was registered. For example, successful registrants whose domains were awarded during Early Bird Sunrise will be notified after October 30, 2007.

Domain names can be up to 63 characters, with a minimum of three characters, and can contain letters (a to z), numbers (0 to 9), and single hyphens (except at the beginning, end, third, or fourth character in the domain name). You cannot register domain names with special characters.

Please let us know if we can help you in any other way.

Sincerely,
Steve P

.asia is another money making machine for Registrars and for the ICANN.

Not even a point in discussing it.

Asian people want IDN domains, for ascii they are already happy with .com

I only bought one .asia, I searched about 35-40 and they were taken, hopefully I will be lucky and not go to the auction. If I do, then I am screwed

Also I don't get the difference from reging during landrush vs pre landrush. It seems like no difference at all, both ways is not first come first serve.
I'd also like to know what the difference is.

I wonder how much is the application fee and the registration fee, separately. Does anyone know?

I really hope that the application fee is not too high :(

I pre-registered some through 007names.com. I called and
they told me if I did not get the names I would be awarded
a refund. I should have asked if it was a FULL refund :yell:

Check your .asia names at godaddy

Just checked my account and I had about 40 .asia names and now they all have disapeared except for one. Just a heads up to watch out for missing .asia domains now that landrush has started. Godaddy had nothing on record of this happening to anyone and dont know what happened just yet.

So they keep the application fee for themselves? Wow, imagine how much money is to be made just keeping the application fee with all those people pre-regging the same names.

Why would you reg them with GoDaddy anyway? Aren't they $20 there?
4 Euros ( about $6 ) at asiadns ( same as eurodns afaik ) with promo code: 4ASIA20

Was there a benefit of pre regging? Or is it the exact same thing. So techinically the landrush started a long time ago.

Godaddy does refund. Under their .asia page see their FAQ - it says this under "what is the process..." :

When you apply for the domain, we charge you an application fee, if applicable, and the registration fee. If the domain is rejected, we refund the registration fee.

Anyone know if there will be a way to know if a domain name already has more than one application?

Why would they want to charge application fee? i know application fee is only available for Sunrise application, other than that, you would only have to pay for registration, most of the registrars i came across didnt charge for application fee.
