So what does everyone think of .Asia and will you or have you ordered any names, what type are you going to go for - names, numbers, LLL, NNN etc? Cities, landmarks, industries, Chinese, Japanese words? What do you think investments will be like in a year, how much do you think premium domains will be worth in the future? Is it worth investing in some?

I think that only the very best keywords and geo names will be worth anything in a year from now...
on the other hand it's asian market that I do not know, maybe they will all like .asia very much? if enough companies will use that extension it will become popular...

this is why I am NOT diggin the landrush period:

"It is NOT a โ€œfirst come first serveโ€ Landrush. No domain will be assigned by the registry till the end of the Landrush. The registry will accept more than one application per domain.

All domains that have been applied more than once (where at least two persons applied for the same name) will trigger an auction. The auction starts (after the landrush period) between the persons who applied for the domain (no open auction). All persons whose domain(s) enter in an auction process will be informed and will be able to see who they are bidding against."

to each their own though..

I'm also thinking that there will be more discounts before March so I'm not really sure there is any need to rush out an order them before Feb 20th.

.asia landrush will start today (20th Feb) and some registrars offer extremely good rate to encourage pre-registartion (EuroDNS - 4eruo & Webnic - 9USD, others are quite expensive - ResellerClub USD15 / Godaddy - USD19.99). After the pre-landrush offer, it would be more expensive to buy .asia.

I don't mind submitting names earlier, as I did because, should it goes into auction, i simply do not bid then. I am just trying my luck. hehehe!

How much would it cost to reg after landrush, cause if it was very expensive it'll probably kill the market.

Also I don't get the difference from reging during landrush vs pre landrush. It seems like no difference at all, both ways is not first come first serve.

Below is my list of my .asia pre regs and names I will reg post landrush.

So does anyone really know the difference between the landrush period and pre land rush? or is there really no difference?

seems useless tho, since all of the good domains will go directly to auction, there is no "first come first serve" for "you know what " domain names.

The landrush isn't all it's cracked up to be, I don't think.

I have pre-regged some ones in Godaddy but I saw that Godaddy will not refund if the registration fails...

All public domain registrations are registered in YOUR NAME not ours.
Domain registration and application fees are not refundable.

https://www.godaddy.com/gdshop/tlds/asia.asp?tld=asia&ci=10002
Legal

is this true?? :'(
who can confirm it...

That is the lamest thing I've ever heard. Though quite possible if you relate it to how their backorder works. You pay even if you never get the domain.

:imho: i dont think this is the right way as many other registrars provide refund for unsuccesful names. are they not rich enough? :$:

I think someone should make a thread of the one's they reg. Cause let's put this in perspective.

You can go with godaddy, and reg something and if it gets sent to the auctions well you lose your reg fee. Because you don't actually get a refund.

Or you can go and use EuroDNS which you will get a refund in credits. But honesly, what can you do with their credits? They charge 18 Euros for a .com, which is like $25 USD.

So it would be much better I think if there was a thread where everyone just post whichever one they reg. I know some people would disagree, but I guess overall this would help everyone in general save some money, from those greedy domain companies.

Godaddy does refund. Under their .asia page see their FAQ - it says this under "what is the process..." :

When you apply for the domain, we charge you an application fee, if applicable, and the registration fee. If the domain is rejected, we refund the registration fee.

Anyone know if there will be a way to know if a domain name already has more than one application?

there is a reason why they make it secret I guess, to increase the chance for the domain names to go to auction:D.
