I think this can be attributed to the Philadelphia Experiment from 1943. Obviously when the ship "disappeared" it went into the future and one of the crew members had time to check out the Internet, setup a free Hotmail account and register the domain. Then when they were sent back to the past 7 years later, the space-time continuum had to adjust the Whois date in order to maintain stability.

Do you think it's a coincidence that the US Secret Service is headquartered in McAllen, Texas?
