Can someone provide an appraisal for:

weight-loss-tips.com

weight loss tips (110 000 avg monthly searches on google)

If you decide is worth nothing .

Do you think hyphens are going to be a problem for SEO? (if i decide to develop the domain)

do i have an advantage over other websites trying to rank for this keyword by having these exact words in my domain name?.

Hello web101.

Sorry to be negative but I think the hyphens kill it. Even without them a 3 word domain like that will not be worth much anyway.

Reg fee if your very lucky.

Sorry :-/

Best,
Paul

Unfortunately yes.

A few years ago the domain could have been a ranking giant with all the right backlinks, but Google's algorithm changes have shot down most Exact Match Domains, or EMDs. The reason is because Google got fed up with all the micro-niche sites that were stealing traffic with sneaky backlinking tactics. When Google became aware of this practice, they recognized that the bulk of these site were targeting high volume search queries.

Among many of these domains to get the ax were hyphened domains, because it was obvious that the domain was targeting a keyword or keyword phrase that was commonly searched for. EMDs to especially be frowned upon were made of three, four sometimes up to 10 keywords (Long-tail Keyword), much like "Fat loss tips".

Now that doesn't mean the domain can't still be ranked, but a lot of effort will be needed ... just like any website today. You would have to make the website look professional, and with high quality articles and content that visitors will engage with.

weight-loss-tips.com is a nice domain name nonetheless, but you would have hustle in the social media world to get it attention at first.

Good post Fliporium. A bit off topic I know (sorry to high jack the thread web101) but what are your thoughts about PPC on Google Fliporium ? I guess it is relevant to the OP because this could be another way for him / her to move forward with the domain.

Best,
Paul

Do you mean Google Adwords? "Fat loss tips" and all the recommended keyword variations that Google's keyword planner comes up with are very expensive. OP would have to have a kickass site to make paying for these clicks worthwhile and get some ROI.

I guess that is the same for any website paying for Adwords. I think you need a massive budget to even start to see a return.

Even then it's hit and miss.

Hi Johname.

Please don't think I am being critical because I am not. I respect your valuation and I am sure you have much more experience over a newbie like me. However a domain with two hyphens is not going to fetch $xxx surely ???

Even with age it will struggle to do this I feel. The keywords can be the best but hyphens will be a killer IMO.

I hope I am wrong and the OP has success with the domain and the other one clothingstoresdirectory.com.

Best,

Paul

It's a monster topic. It would be like contacting the person that owns something like i-buy-homes.com and say 'I'll give you $28 for your domain because of the two hyphens" Its not going to happen.

When was the last time a double hyphen domain made it to the reported sales ?
I don't see much value for the domain undeveloped.

The niche is good. But as far as the domain name itself is concerned, in my opinion, at best it's worth low $xx.

Regarding clothingstoresdirectory.com, I would say it's too long (3 words) hence easy to forget. I would say mid $xx.

Best of luck!
