I want a Hit Counter for my website.

I want it so i can visit the website and get Stats.

How many visits i got in that day etc.

If you just go by hit counter alone you won't learn very much.

Here is a great web log tool I just downloaded...best of all it's free. I'd been looking for one for a while. It tells you the basics, How many unique Visits, Where they came from, search terms used...pretty easy to use too if you can got your log files.

try searching for tutorials on how to make your own hit counter, I think zymic.com had a tutorial for what your looking for.

How do most sites get unique stats?

If your site has CPanel the you log into CPanel and go to "Web/Ftp stats" and then click "Awstats"

There you can view everything you need to know statistics wise. Hope this helps :]

Ooh, ok, The AwStats didnt work, I got this error:

Error: Couldn't open config file "awstats.farkie.com.conf" nor "awstats.conf" after searching in path ".,/home/farkie/tmp/awstats/,/etc/opt/awstats,/etc/awstats,/etc,/usr/local/etc/awstats": No such file or directory

- Did you use the correct URL ?
Example: http://localhost/awstats/awstats.pl?config=mysite
Example: http://127.0.0.1/cgi-bin/awstats.pl?config=mysite
- Did you create your config file 'awstats.farkie.com.conf' ?
If not, you can run "./../../tools/configure.pl" from command line, or create it manually.

Check config file, permissions and AWStats documentation (in 'docs' directory).

yea awstats is the best has accurate stats.. To bad I don't have it in my cPanel anymore now I just use extreme-tracker.

when you unzip the file, look under the doc folder

all the docs are there...have a read at the install.txt file

strange..i've downloaded the .zip file..unzip it looked in the docs folder and the install.txt is there..

For uniques do NOT trust Awstats, but it is good for referralls etc.
