Hi,

I'm starting up a webdesign company that will focus on several things:
1. Webdesign (of course)
2. PHP output
3. SQL databases (for mass information storage, good for online stores)
4. Backend Admin Panels so the owners can edit their content dynamically
5. Hosting
6. Some Graphic Design

I have two questions that maybe some people can help me with.

1. Where would a good source of customers be? And how would I best market to them?

2. Do i just need a business license for the state I am operating in, or do i need some kind of multi-state internet license?

Thanks for any ideas. I would also be interested in a few partners if anyone has GREAT ideas on how to draw in customers and big projects. (looking for $1,000+ projects).

Anyone else have valuable marketing skills? Advertising websites (bringing in the traffic) or The ability to get webdesign sales?

First you need to get a good site, then you need to offer to do some sites for experienced people in the webmaster world, and impress them. If you have to do it at a loss.

Then with their reviews, and their sites in your portfolio you are off. Word of mouth is key. Then maybe do more marketing in the forums, adwords, etc.....
