Just got back from the WEB2NY conference.
These are the items that I can recall.

1) Social Networking is Hot
2) Video is hot, though recognized the high cost of bandwidth is a problem
3) CEO of Mogulus was there
4) VC are still looking for new companies with great ideas on niche markets
5) Met a lot of good people...
6) a new company Syndicaster.TV showed hos latest technology where videos can be search via text, impressive ==> should be good for dotTV, they are using the extension

I'll update this once I recall the others..

All are looking for developed websites but still on the early stage...
The VC groups that were there:
1) NY Angels - funding in the early stage around $200k - $700K
this group funded Magnify.net - they like this kind of companies
2) Greycroft Partners - participates as junior VC - around $1M up
3) Greenhill SAVP
4) Blogger/Podcaster Guide of USA Today

They discussed recognized the 'widgets' are being used as a content/ad distribution strategy..

They keep on talking about the "long tail" of the broadcast medium. The way I understand about "long tail" is these are the independent web publishers/bloggers/startup media companies with home grown video.
They are recognizing the number of the aggregated visitors from these blogger sites has a value to advertisers.

In addition, advertising is becoming more like an auction where ad prices for keywords are being bid on..
ADSDAQ, Adbrite, Collarity, Etology, Clickable, Spot Runner, Live Technology, Genius Rocket, MyNumo, Arkadium, and I can't recall the others.
ENGAGING the customer via interactive flash games (advergames) is also a buzzword.

Visit their websites (google them) to see more what they are doing.

The most impressive one was Syndicaster.TV wherein they can syndicate content right after it was aired by the broadcaster.. They have the technology to convert scraped of the equivalent text from the video. Now there is meta text that can be searchable on the SE ==> advantage for the sites who has this.

One more, panelists see advertising dollars continues to flow towards online channel. Good news to us..
