What are you talking about ? Do you understand the question ?
Actually it depends on some factors but most of it is like this :
He is a startup, not an established GODADDY (whatever that means to hosting/domains ) who already gave tons of money to advertise !
Do you know what is SEO ?
Do you know that URL is a huge benefit for it ?
Actually I do not know somebody who will buy hosting from acmeinc.com/hosting instead of GreenHosting.com for example (assume same services and prices ). The main argument is "This company is all about hosting and they will do anything do earn their bread"
BTW which hosting service do you prefer?
1. GoDaddy
2. BlueHost
3. HostGator
(Only answer if you have used them)
"The more niche the better" is working in this case.
p.S. do not think I am bashing you. I just want to make it clear and help the asker and as like they say "In the argue are the arguments" and the "forum(invented by Greeks)" has this main purpose.
P.p.s. To the asker (only if you are newbie )there are lots of sharks in this business so try to start bigger and eat them ! Create good affiliate program and reseller - see HostGator. Use SMM and Good Offline marketing - place MAGNET SIGNS in business centers/ target group traffic place and so on... and Google Places SEO and AdWords if you can afford it...
I would use just simply "businessname.com/hosting" and I can tell you why.
When you've already got business website you should add more services to your main website and not to a separated website because if your client see that this website exist eg. since 2008 he/she won't hesitate to choose your hosting services (if you have got a superb design ofc).
And don't forget - IT'S ALL ABOUT THE DESIGN!
I've seen many businesses offered sh#tty overpriced services but they reached few hundred sales within a month, and guess what, why?
Because they had a very decent website template with shiny css3 elements.
