You might also consider restricting access to this area of your site by making it password protected. The last thing you want is for a search engine to index these temporary and private pages.

Let me know if you need any help with this.

You must have index.html or index.php as a start page, becouse this is required from all servers on the world !

i dont think index.php works for having it not need to show. what i mean is that you can't go to whatever.com and expect whatevercom/index.php.....but maybe it just didnt work on the server i had for free before. hmmm

innovative,

I have a susgestion for you. It may not help you short term, but..

Develop a working relationship with a local ISP. He will probably be happy to provide you an ip to play. It can be benefical to both of you.
You can refer your clients to him and if you know what you're doing he may start referring clients to you. The advantage to him is he can develop the site where you left off (custom database work etc.). Your advantage is a work space, you can play with script and techniques you want to learn.

Find one that supports
FrontPage Server Extensions (every employee wants to type on the web - They'll brake it - there's a charge to fix it)
More than adequate bandwidth (you don't want to have to change horses in the middle of the stream)
Email accounts (no limit on attachment size) with browser access
Secure Shopping Cart available (hopefully included)
Asp, Asp.Net, Sql, Database compatibility
Streaming video/audio compatibility
VPN
CGI
Video Conferencing
Site Statistics - Webtrends or similar application
24 - 7 Support

Post a couple sites you made, I'll take a look
good luck
