Web Payment Processing? If not PayPal, then...?

I am just wondering if there are any other comparable payment processors apart from Paypal? After having read articles from www.paypalsucks.com I am getting worried about the latter. If the services are available to Canadians, then all the better. Thanks for any and all help!

I agree about the global part. I remember I signed up once and when I wanted to send money to someone I found out my country wasn't supported (I could only receive money, not send). Imagine how good I felt. Moneybookers... maybe sometime in a distant future, not for now!
So you should choose Ikobo. Because its coverage is in more than 170 countries and 220 regions. :great:

Well, I did it, sent money I mean. It's true what armstrong said, the verification process tends to be a little complicated, but I personally don't mind this, because after all it's my money at stake and I'd like them to be as secure as possible. It's been 5 or 6 days since I sent the money, so the other person should receive the ikard shortly and then things will work smooth. I know this from my own experience of receiving money via ikobo.

I want to raise my send/recieve limits of ikobo account from $500 to $1000. Does anyone have experiences with it?

Check out http://www.hyperwallet.com
Not the answer for an e-commerce site, but inexpensive and easy for occasional transactions.
I think it's just useful in Canada & the US though.
not great for world wide

My experience with online fund transfer systems has been totally rotten.

After trying iKobo (next to non-existant customer support, extremely high fees, a completely hopeless interface) and pay-pal (customer support manned by robots, interface is what they call infinite looping in programming. They ask you to click here, then click there, then click here, then click there again and volia, you are back where you are!) and speding hours trying to send a few bucks without luck, I decided I would rather use check even though it takes 2 weeks, it is still faster...

I have used ikobo for serveral months. I feel it is easy to operation. The transfer speed is fast. I have not met any problems. Its tranaction fee is the lowest among the 3rd party providers. Of couse its fee is higher than using check. So if you do not want to save time, I suggest you using check. If you want to save time, transfer online is a good way.

Well, I've send money via ikobo a few times till now. Frankly I don't think they're as bad as freak describes them. I mean, yeah, maybe they take a while to verify your identity, but that happens only once, after that things went ok. I've sent the money, the person on the other side received the ikard and then got the money, simple as that. Maybe I'm lucky or something, I don't know, but to me it has worked just fine.

Well, let's see: until now I've tried the following (except paypal :p, which is a big NO-NO, at least for me)
1. Ikobo - signed up after my problems with paypal, but I left it to that because they look rather fishy to me - very slow support staff and I spotted several spelling mistakes on the site at the time (they may have been corrected since then). Plus they seem to need a LOAD of documents to raise your transfer limit from 205$ a month. A letter from my bank? COME ON

2. Moneybookers - they also need a lot of stuff sent to them, plus the signup is tedious, I lost a customer because of that...

3. ShareIt - although it has (very) high fees, this is the one I'm using, it's similar to 2Checkout but it doesn't have a setup fee. A big advantage is that customers don't need to sign up to pay, you can simply provide a link for them to go to and pay via CC.

Hope this helps.

Oh, yeah, and also, I found some very disturbing threads regarding iKobo on Sitepoint.com - just do a search on iKobo there - it appears that iKobo pays (or used to pay) people to spam message boards with messages about how good iKobo is.

Hmm im gonna try Shareit first time! :kickass: Anyways thanks bye!

I never heard of ShareIt and if it has very high fees, I think I don't even want to hear of it.

I have emailed the documents that Ikobo required to Ikobo. I supposed that ikobo would take several days to raise the limit of my account . But when I login Ikobo at the second day. I was glad to discover that the limit of my account have been raised.

Well, lately ikobo seems to be moving faster than they used to. I suppose it's part of their improvement program that seems to be going on with them lately. Hey, who are we to complain, right? The better they work, the better our chances of doing business increase.

I didn't read any post except yours but drmaximus but stormpay is another one if no one has already said it.

Well, this is something I've found in regard of stormpay, thought I'd share this with you. I must state this isn't a personal experience:
I have tried Stormpay. All went well setting it up, payments started coming in, $290 in the account within a few days ($17 monthly memberships to the site).

BUUUUUUUT......Chargebacks!!! WE LOST EVERYTHING.

From $300+ we had $25 left, due to chargebacks, which I "believe" are when people purchase the subscription, the IPN lets them in thru a member, and then they ring their card company and cancel the transaction........so they have access to our site, they get their money back......but what’s worse is STORMPAY CHARGE $35 every time this happens, and LOADS of people were doing it, and wiped us out .

Very very sad about this, it seems people were doing it intentionally to scam us....everyone but a few people did it.
Now desperately searching for a decent payment provider.....there’s no nudity, but just underwear shots etc......trying Ikobo now....fingers crossed!

Wish us luck for the future...and avoid Stormpay at all costs!

I learnt that withdrawing money (from Ikobo account) in Canada incurs pretty hefty fees (US$5 or C$5), so this would factor in as cost too.

Ikobo only takes 1.5$ fee no matter what country are you withdrawing from. I don't think that Canada can be out of the ordinary in this matter. I use only ikobo and on every withdrawal (from different European countries) the fee was only 1.5$.

Yep, I can confirm that as well. Can't understand why you're talking about such high fees, when in fact it's only $1.5 per withdrawal, regardless of the amount of money. I almost looks like we're talking about two different services here. :hehe:

I hear someone says that Ikobo does not charge fees when you withdraw money. The fee are charged by the bank which offers the ATM machine. Different banks charge diffrent fees. So some places's fee may higher than that of other places.
