.web.com for development?

Just wondering what people here think about .web.com domains for development? I know there are a lot of discussions as to resale value, but lets say you could get a great keyword domain that happened to be (for example) website.web.com and it was the exact keyword for a website that you were developing, would that be better than something like MyWebsite.com ?

I would say definetly if you are going to develop - Get good keyword ones as there are still many available - They will work just as good as any .com IMO

I have about 20 or so nice ones some of which I will develop in the next two years if they don't sell as is these are a few of them

Caribbean - Recycling - Recycle - eco - bmx - Prague - Monaco - Ibiza - DubaiHotels - DubaiProperty - CityBreaks - Samurai - Bermudas - Invention - Invent - annuity - moviedownload/s - golfeurope - carhire ........and a few more.

They do earn a few clicks but would obviously get ranked alot better as a website or minisite instead of just a standard parking page.

According to Google there are currently 249,000 websites using the .web.com ext

From a domain resell point of view you're not likely to get much enthusiasm here - sorry guys/girls :hearts: I am sure you have read some of the very entertaining .web.com threads posted here :o about the rather large sale of Poker.web.com.

They do sell - the other day I saw a .eu.com subdomain

Sms.eu.com – sold at sedo for 700 euros on 23/02/2006 so they are definetly not "worthless" .......just not "popular" I would say :lol:

It would certainly be better than something like MyWebsite.com. From the development point of view they are good or for that matter a .com name is always good.

I would love to have something like .WEB.COM for offering free third level domain names

some day you may have .WEB and then you will have a huge number of xxx.WEB names to cope with.

this domain name business is getting to be insane..

I'd pick MyWebsite.com over website.web.com any day, regardless of whether it was for development of speculation.

But I'm sure the owner of website.com would be happy to encourage you in the other direction and profit from all the traffic you bring him.

Thanks for the input every one, I decided to go with the .com, it turned out that I got a decent two word .com... I will be developing and promoting the site soon...
