I've just been looking through the drop lists, and I noticed that, once again, there are some groups of names. Yesterdays list contained Gopaydayloan, and Dopaydayloan followed by a fifth word to make the domain name. In my opinion, these five word groups are just a waste of money, and illustrate the dangers in getting carried away by a concept. PayDayLoan.com obviously has value, but most of the derivatives don't.

Could be multiple reasons they were registered. Have you looked to see if they were previously developed? I know an SEO guy who runs a payday loan network and he registers dozens of names each day. He would probably register those even if they had just a bit of juice on them..

Even without any juice, really high paying and competitive niches like payday loans, insurance or law can get registered with 3 or 4 words just because so few are available to hand reg. these days. Seams hard to believe for 3 or 4 word domains but that is the case in some of those really competitive niches. Some people heavy into those niches will have hundreds of little sites developed and being used to help push up their bigger "money" sites..

I take your point, but I don't see how a name like DoPaydayLoanRay.com could produce any natural traffic.

Thanks for your comment FP, and you made me stop and reflect for a moment. I've just picked up PaydayLoanCards.com as my reg of the day. The singular would have been better, but that was picked up a couple of days ago,

Sometimes the aim is just to lock out the competition by grabbing lots of names, the most obvious derivatives but also plenty of longer variations. Many brands are also registered along with certain keywords for defensive registration purposes (or sometimes for marketing campaigns).

Mass hand regging . . . .Want2learn slowly backs away from computer:)

Seriously though, that is a pretty smart strategy that essentially costs peanuts to do. I have a family member in the title pawn payday business and it is just about as cut throat as can imaginably be!

So my payday loan cards name might earn me some revenue then. :)

I don't know much about payday loans other than you have to be mad to take out one.. I remember there was a fuss over here because one company had an apr of something like 3,500%. I think that is now illegal, but the interest rates still seem to be insane,
