Hello everyone. I am interested in starting an outsourced hosting support business, and need more people to join up with me so that the support can truely be 24x7.
The ideal members would have the following:
1. Atleast 1 year of experience in the web hosting industry.
2. Know your way around cPanel/WHM. Any other control panels you migh tbe good with are helpfull also.
3. Be able to communicate in a professional manor. We can't have people who type in slang, or cannot speak english well.
4. Be available atleast 4 hours a day to take care of support requests.
5. Be over 18, we will not accept high school students.
6. Have knowledge in server managment
7. Have the ability to handle multiple tasks at one time.
8. Be kind, curtious, and helpfull to clients.

I have not decided what to charge for all of this. I am going to research a few more outsourced hosting support buisness to get ideas on rates, and any input you have would be great. The profit from this company will be split between the staff members in an equal share, only if each staff member does his or her fair share. Obviously we arent going to split the profit with you if you are never around to help.

If you are interested in taking part in this, please send me an email at admin @ my-e-space.net . In the email, please include the following information:
1. You name
2. Email address
3. Age
4. Location
5. How long have you been in the hosting business
6. What control panels are you familiar with
7. Can you effectivly manage a web server
8. What scripting languages do you know
9. What hours are you available (must be atleast 4)

I will be working on the website soon, and would like to be up and ready to go within 2-3 weeks. If you would also liek to assist in the design of the website, that would be great!

What do we get if we do help? Cause people don't do that kind of stuff for free. :hehe:

You will get paid for one thing. We will split all profit equally amungst all support operators (provided they do their fair share). And also, if you already own a web hosing business, you will get free 24x7 support for your hosting clients.

So this will be a couple web hosts offering support for other web hosts at a fee? I can see this going south pretty quickly.

Not exactly. It will be a team of people with experience in all aspects of web hosting. There are a few other companies that offer this, but if you check, there are only a handfull that are NOT from India. Alot of hosts (if not all) want support techs that can communicate clearly in english, which is hard to find.
It will take some work, and will surely not be a "Get rich quick project". But, after time we will start to be known as a trusted and reliable outsourced support solution. :)

What kind of support you're willing to provide? Live chat, phone or email/tickets only?

Hard to find? The USA has an unemployment rate of 4.7%, Canada's is 6.3%.

This support idea has been tried numerous times before (you can see posts about it on WHT). Usually ends up with hosts suggesting to other hosts clients that they should signup with them.

Actualy most people willing to work are not in USA (online jobs). For me, I hire everyone as long as they know full english, etc. I hope your business goes great. Also I have seen sites like this before, they make atlease ~100,000k yearly. Not enough really because you have to pay your techs but if you have multiple businesses or a job in your city (not online) then its a great side income ;)

Thanks,
Camron

LocalPub, we will be offering live chat, and ticket support. We do not plan on offering phone support though, maybe sometime down the line, who knows.

jmweb, I am not sure what the unemployment rate has to do with english speaking host support techs? I am not trying to be a smart ass, I just dont understand what you mean by that.

StackedTech, actually I hope to find a couple of people in different countries due to the time differences. So if it is 4am here, I will need people in places where it is 4pm. I'm a night owl though, so it shouldnt be a problem :)

Lol, sounds stupid. Even biggies like IBM, DELL AND GOOGLE are outsourcing support to India. Indians do speak, read and write excellent english. If you have had or heard bad experience about an Indian Staff, dont blame all of 'em. I am myself a hosting support staff, and a technical lead, and I dont find much problems with our customers regarding that. So do check your tongue and hands before you say or type something.
