Hi,

I'm looking to buy my last name .com domain and I need a broker. I'm not looking to spend more than $300-500, and I'd prefer if I didn't have to pay a fee upfront just for them to try.

I don't mind paying a commission ones I get the domain, but I want to avoid paying a fee upfront.

Whats a good place to get a domain broker or are there any brokers here in the forum that can help?

Thanks for the help :)

Unless it's a really weird last name, you ain't going to get it for $500. I might be able to help.

Whats the last name?

I'm sure there's someone here that can broker the domain if the owner is willing.

Realistically even a niche LastName.com is going to cost more than $300-$500 to buy. Best of luck.

Another solution if you don't mind tlds will be to get your last name .co for reg fee if not taken.
That's the way I've got mine because seller of .com said: Not for sale even it's a webpage under construction since he reg in 2001, the dot net is for sale for $3000 :(

I wasn't aware that even niche last name would cost that much... well, hopefully in the future sometime :)

And already own the .co, but haven't used it yet since I especially wanted to use the domain for email and I'm sure people will send it to .com instead of .co.

You should find someone that can research the current owner or you can do it yourself. The more you know about them the better you can plan on how to approach them about the domain. if they think the domain is worth more than you do, it may be possible to find a way to offer them something that they will think is more valueable than you do. For example, if you have a great keyword domain that relates to their business, you might be able to offer tht and some cash for the domain they have.

You also may be able to "wear them down" over time by offering more and more money over a long period of time. Using a broker can work for or against you in these situations since it makes you look like you have enough money to pay the broker and could be a company or someone else with tons of money. If the domain is your last name, then it might be worth being direct and honest with them about why you want the domain, yet making it clear that you are not able to pay $$$$$$ for the domain. Getting a profile of the owner can help with this process.

To start with, if you have their home address you can use Zillow.com to find out the value of their home. I did this for a friend and found the domain owner's house was valued at $1.5M. It was clear from that point that my friend, whom I was helping, was going to pay more than I thought he should. :)

Dot me would be a better choice in my opinion.
