The race is on to merge the two most powerful entertainment boxes in the home.
The marriage of the television and the computer moved a step closer yesterday when the giant chipmaker Intel Corp. unveiled its vision for using a new technology that blends the two devices. Intel said it is working with more than 40 companies around the world in the movie, music, television, gaming and photo-editing fields to deliver content to computers using the technology called Viiv (rhymes with five).<<<<<<<<
Um, guys we don't even have 3 months as I predicted. The pace as which all this is happening is pretty incredible. Today in the "USA Today" newspaper it was front to back stories about the changes that are about to occur with Television in the US as we know it. Basically "On-Demand" TV is where things are going. The FCC informed the cable companies they will no longer be able to bundle their TV shows into one package. We will get to pick and choose which channels we'd prefer to pay for each month. They did discuss how this will help and hurt network television. Basically local stations will be screwed because they rely heavily on local advertising. Pretty much for the last few months the "Big 3" have been telling local TV stations to start thinking about how they are going to pay the bills. This might be where your "CityName.TV" names may come in handy (I'm thinking). As internet TV may be the only option for these local providers. The "Big 3" should make out o.k as people who have been pulling away from TV to the internet may be drawn back in do to the ability to watch a show whenever, whereever they want.
NOTE: At this point I'm done buying .TV names. I'm set. Time to get building....There isn't a lot of time to waste. Here is my list (all purchased at reg fee):
