I just saw that registerfly offers virtual private servers at really tempting prices.
For example, they have a 10 GB / 200 GB with plesk 7 and full root access deal for 39.95$ a month

https://registerfly.com/hosting/vps.php

I'm wondering how reliable they are. Anyone have any experience with their hosting?

they can't be that bad. It isn't as though they will shut down.

Well, I know, but I bet "not that bad" isn't what most people are looking for. I mean sure, you get a lot of bang for the buck, but if it's unreliable I'd pass (I'm cool with my current hosting anyway, trying to think big... not megalomaniac)

If you want hosting, go with someone who specializes in it.

For example, would you buy a PC from a grocery store, and if it breaks, and they can't assist you, what do you do then? Also, it's cheaper to order from someone who specializes in an area, as they can focus 100% on that, unless they have a special department for it, which Registerfly doesn't. Just my personal advice.

for VPS, I recommend servint.com. their prices are great, and support via email or phone is plain awesome.

Their VPS includes full server management, daily full backup, redundant networks, and ultra-responsive tech support. When you get a cheap dedicated, you probably will get NONE of these. Having your own box exposes your sites to more risks, specially if you are not so hot with unix sysadmin and security settings, which have to be updated fairly regularly.

Plesk is the best control panel out there

I think it depends what a persons first host has (not free hosting, like hosting with cpanel, plesk, eniom)

Its what they learn to use, like i think they are all good software, but I rather have cpanel :P because it was what I learned with

The problem with cpanel is it costs quite a bit per month. It is licenced per server per month generally, and a VPS counts as one server, so instead of paying the monthly cost and dividing it over say 200 sites, you are not instead paying 20X the monthly cost once for each VPS.

I have 10 VPSs I am trying to figure out what to do with, and issues like this make it hard to know just what to do. Would people be interested in a domain parking server that could handle any domains pointed at it and redirect them or display a ppc page?
Would people want them control panel less? Or with webadmin? Or what? Any ideas out there for how I can package and put these VPSs to use?
