I've went through alot of voip names in the past but eventually ended up with one I plan to keep and promote. I think although it is big business it's still very much in it's infancy. The general public is just now realizing highspeed internet is a must have and voip is as greek as highspeed was a few years back to most of them. If you walked down the street and ask the average Joe if they used VOIP they wouldn't have the slightest clue as to what you were referring to. It will take atleast a year or two for it to gain household recognition but the time will come and landlines as we have known them will be government subsidized.

Yes, they are certainly "heating up" IMO..

Got a few VoIP related domains, and the offers seems to be increasing every month now..

A couple of my best(?) ones as examples:
VoIPUSA.com - Semi-developed.
Got offers close to mid $x,xxx now, but don't want to sell it yet...

VoiceOverIP.ws - offers close to mid $xxx, but don't want to sell that one yet either..

Highest bid on Overture for "VoIP" is also over $7 pr click now,
and that has been steadily increaseing over the last months as well,
so the future seems bright for (good) VoIP domain owners..

Voip will do nothing but increase in popularity over the next few years. And when mobile voip takes off, it will be huge.

I regged some mobile voip domains recently, hoping they become worth something.

I'm not sure the value of Voip domains will go up unless they are really premium like VOIPservice.com

I have a website, TelefonoVirtual.net where we have been selling VOIP units to latin america and it's actually getting tougher as there are so many free alternatives now available for making free calls without buying the units.

We got a huge increase in traffic running up to christmas but it was mainly people looking for a free service.

VoIP will definitely get more popular, but I wonder if it is too technical to use it in most domain names to attract the average Internet user. Like "Internet telephone" might get more attention. (Same thing with "RFID" in domains.)

I think VOIP will become a known term eventually. Actually, I think most people know it currently as Skype or Skyping, but that will change as competition increases.
