Very Simple Script Needed

Hello,

I have a few pages on my site that includes data which takes a while to load (3-5 seconds).

What I want is a script that displays a little image/text saying 'please wait...loading deals' which disappears after 3-5 seconds or recognises when the page has finished loading and then disappears. Ideally I would like an image to appear.

I have searched google but cannot find anything.

Could anyone point me in a good direction please?
