You can look forward to 10% increases every year for the next 10 years on .net domains. So if you have valuable .nets, extend their registrations before the increase.

It's a good thing the value of the U.S. Dollar is going to the garbage dump. The foreign exchange rate will compensate for this increase for non-US domainers.

most of you would not remember it, but the .com reg fee was originally $100

after more registrars were allowed to offer these domains, the price immediately dropped

Not exactly. Originally, .COM was free.

And then later on was $50 per year; $100 for a new 2 year registration.
