vB code in private messages

Why doesn't vB code work in private messages? The vB code shows as it is and not converted to HTML!

I believe it was to prevent issues
with PM's being sent with bad links.

Because some new members did registered and were sending PM's that were problematic

So that thing has been closed for security reasons.

Surely you could do something like disable pms until a certain number of posts have been reached? It seems somewhat ridiculous that the 99% of legit members have limited functions because of that minority.

I believe it was disabled as urls were being set as differently to what was being displayed. E.g. you saw the link to google.com but it was actually redirecting you to a website that looked like namepros.

With the restriction in place now, you can see exactly what you are clicking on.

I don't think it should be changed, and a little inconvenience is better than having to deal with hacking attempts and stolen domains etc.

Yes it was the easiest way to stop these phishing scams we had at namepros the other month.

Even some long standing members fell for it and it caused quite a problem.

I must admit that the quotes not being quoted properly is a nuisance however I would personally prefer this nuisance over scammers getting access to long standing customers accounts.
