Just wanted to ask you guys a quick question. Its about using letter V as prefix, for example vDomain.com (just an example). Is the letter V + keyword.com still popular and in demand?

Do you consider v rank better as a prefix than i or e?

Cheers and thanks for looking..

[EDIT: Sniped vMates.com and it was the reason for my question :) ]

Hmm, Never heard of the V prefix. I knew E and I were popular. I would have though V would be just the same as any other letter.

V as in 'Virtual' can be good in some cases (as in virtual reality games, etc.), but 'e' is much stronger in my opinion. vMates.com is a great name... if you can build it around "Virtual Mates"

I think I, E, and V all have words they work well with.

In America Mates are lovers and I think in GB, ect a Mate is a friend. So either angle would work.

Great name.

"V" prefixes, perhaps even more than "i" or "e", would require excellent development and then heavy :$: branding, IMHO. :gl:

V is used in the UK a lot as an abbreviation of 'very' so you will see examples in the classifieds such as vgood condition or vhelpful or vcold etc.... otherwise I can only think of v as virtual...
So Vdomain = virtual domain
vsexy = very sexy

limited value, certainly more limited in its use than the i or e prefix.

I'm not sure it was popular to start with (?)

Saying that, 'v' could also be short for video (e.g. video dating, video conferencing, video chat)

Thanks for your input guys. Appreciate it. Yes I was thinking of Virtual Mates when I regged it. But Video Mates is also really nice :)

IMO last year or so there was lot of talk about v+keyword domains, I saw quite a few sales and people wanted these "vnames". I could be wrong of course.

I don't see as many vnames around anymore, was it just another hype or what do you think?

Cheers

I think it's all about the branding. eTrade and eHarmony without branding would just be funny looking names. But instead they are household piller domains.

Making vMates a brand unto itself will be difficult, but the rewards can be tremendous.

I made eInvesting into something I am very proud of, even if I dont own it anymore. The work to make the site what it is today was very rewarding.

i guess a little company called ........ ebay changed most peoples views on the letter E
but i dont think v will climb as high ??? good luck though

No, I think it's nowhere near the value of an "i" or "e" prefix. Also, there hasn't been that many "v" domains sold compared to the others.
