Using numbers in a domain

Generally the domains without number and hyphens are usually preferred.
Sometimes you are not in a position to get your exact keyword or nearby matches available for registration.
Is there any way you can use a number in your domain but without doing much harm to its value or presentation.
There are some successful sites like 101domains, 1and1domains etc which have gone successfully.
Additionally the topmost sale of last month was 345 dot com which went in 6 figures. All 4N domains have been sold out. We use numbers in our day to day life in form of mobile no., zip codes etc...
Is it the time to break old myth that numbers are no go areas?
Some things I assume
1. They have a chance of confusion with their spellings e.g. 1something can be confused with onesomething
2. Numbers 1,4,5,7,9 are apparently more popular than 3,6,8 to combine in domain (Personal opinion)
3 Best use of numbers can be made either in the beginning or at the end of domain rather than placing in between
4 sometimes to avoid people spelling five in stead of 5, some people chose multiple digits like 22,24,66 etc for whom anybody will type number directly rather than typing 'twenty two' etc...
I welcome further suggestions from experienced members for beginners like us on how to use numbers smartly....

There is an extremely limited market for domains with number/letter combinations. The only active market, which is mostly all numbers, is the chinese market. So you have to be extremely lucky to ever sell a domain with numbers/letters. Extremely lucky.

A case in point would be AC360.com, which I'm sure the seller never thought that Anderson Cooper of CNN would buy that for $12k. I'm sure he was thinking about Air Conditioning when he regged the domain.

Do I have any letter/number combinations in my portfolio. Yes. A few. Mostly 360 domains. But I've never had 1 offer for one of these domains, and they have almost 0 visitors when parked. I think you need to accept fairly high risk with these domains. So keep your day job. You might need it to finance these domains.

Not a fan of mixing numbers with letters. Just gets too random IMO. The only exceptions would be names likes 360camera.com or 247daycare.com, i.e. names where the numbers really add to the meaning of the name.

I don't know... For a camera/app that takes panorama pics, or for a daycare center that is open 24/7, I think those are decent enough, no?

But yeah... You'd have to be pretty lucky to get a sale.

Generally I don't like numbers because if you have to say the name, you would have to say "the number two not the word two" in this for example: business2business.

Using numbers as suffix or prefix really depends on the keyword attached to them.
Some make sense, some don't.
