US stingy?

Ok the UN says the US is being stingy and should raise taxes to give more money and AID to other countries. I say screw that stop giving them AID and start giving it to the homeless in the US of A.

The ONLY countries we should help is the ones who dont have an anti-US attitude and the ones who have stuck behind us in this war on terror.

The problem is, nobody stuck with us.. some were able to give lip service since they did not have to do anything.. But help, not really. Just did not try to hinder...

Well we gave 20% of what the collective EU gave to the tidalwave victims.. (So far , as last I heard) not including military manpower..

Maybe the UN should pay up on their dues and everything those whining countries owe us, call in the debts and give 1/2 to the overseas aid and 1/2 to local aid...

Well Chromis, not everyone was for or opposed the war, what do you think Shri Lanka could have done anyway for helping, nothing. As for Iraq, hmmm... do you think they were for or against a war in their homeland? Yet we send them aid. We send Iran aid after their earthquakes (although I was opposed to doing that) so why not these people after their Tsunami. It's a natural disaster and there's nothing they could have done to prevent it.

You tell us we dont do enough to help the world, yet we go to war to rid a tyrant that slaughtered MILLIONS of his own men, women and children... sending our own boys to their graves.... but.. when we send money to a group of nations that has been "less than friendly" towards us, your saying we dont do enough.

Why should we do ANYTHING? If the world only protests our VESTED INTERESTS in these things, then why should we put in ANY interest?

Want more help from the USA? Well we helped out Europe GREATLY after WWII, and look how helpfull they are today.

I for one am glad and thankful for the UK and its help. When I talk about other countrie I normally dont mean to include the UK.

How much help could countries like Shri Lanka have been even if they tried? They don't have much and are loosing/lost what they did have. I don't see why we shouldn't support them.

And Lee, we should do it to be a good country. A world leader should always try to help the other, smaller countries. It's just good policy. It's the same idea behind welfare. The people who have money should help support the people who don't.

I listened to this crap all day on news radio. How long are we going to prop up the U.N. so they and other ungrateful nations say we are a "stingy country."

How much has China coughed up?? They are the biggest, wealthest, fastest growing market in that area. Last I heard they offered the quake victims a big whopping NOTHING!!

We give too much... we give to little... we give to the wrong countries... we give at the wrong time... or we give the wrong thing. Let's go back to pre-40's isolationism and see how the world turns!

Sorry but I see no reason to help any country that is lazy. Instead of sitting there begging for food why are they not out in the fields growing food? If their government isnt helping them get a better life why dont they over throw it?
