An article out today in Internet Week, indicates the US House of Representatives has just preliminarily passed a bill giving up to 7 years of jail time for having false information in the domain registration whois record. It appears they are going after the "phish" schemers, but could have a large effect on others as well.

I hope it is closely tied to the phishing fraud, and not just those who are trying to protect identities and doing nothing to defraud others.

I don't knowingly have any false info, but occassionally the drop services will have incorrect entries before and when they hand a name over. I've had some that weren't caught for a while that could maybe fall into this trap.
