Hi Folks
I need some ideas what i should sell this name for.
DropHit.com (this was a music site i got via snapnames in 2001).
the orginal owner started to badmouth me and said i was a thief!
I was also involved in a new venture MusicDistributors.com(reason i purchased name) but i have since sold my intrests in musicdistributors.com.

Now this buyer has returned (now he is being very polite) wanting to buy this name. He is using drophit.net and i feel he is being restricted business and traffic wise.
I would like some ideas what i should hold out for.

Thanks
Martin

You are in a nice position...owning the dotcom version.

You have to research what you think he's currently making off drophit.net - and what he could be making more with the .com. Present this information to him either directly or indirectly along with a "high" asking price. The key here is to start high, like I've said before to others, it's easier to go down in price then up if they reject your price. I will take a look at his website and try to come up with a fair price to start at for your reference.

Homemade site. Ask $500 take $250 and count your blessings.

Did he contact you first, and was there any mentioning of an Asking price/range, potential negotiations, or inferences within that communication? $500 - $750+ would be a reasonable range to begin the negotiations, absent any other information here, IMHO. Checking the stats/membership/revenue on the other site may lead you to ask for a bit more ... but be willing to negotiate professionally (it's good that he is being polite, as you mentioned) to close the sale, as I see it.
Best of Luck.

coolhost it's not really any of my business but I've mentioned it privately before. Posting links to the site of topic could possibly blow a deal if the buyer were to follow the link back to here.

Absolutely ... and understandable, Jolt. Just trying to be thorough.
If Martin wishes for me to remove the "link" that I provided above, I will surely do so, and ASAP. No worries. ;)
Thanks.

Guys
I really appreciate all that has been said and i want to say thanks. I dont mind about links left. I spoke to soon about him being polite. He is so arogant. I have had the name a while now so he can say what he wants. He want the name for $50 (LOL). This guy runs a record lable in NY. His business is called Drop Hit Records. I have a strange feeling he has signed up a few more artists and whats the .com before he can properly relaunch.
But keeping opions coming in
Thanks
Martin

As everyone said you are in a great position. I would say dont take any less then $150 but suggest about $800 then work your way down until you think he will break.
