I saw CNN showing an ad for Poland tourism and it displayed the domain name Poland.travel
I actually thought it was missing an ending (extension) until I realised the .Travel WAS the extension.
Now, my brain understood that .travel exists, but when I saw it being used for real - it didn't look real!
That is how many people have looked at .Tv over the years.
Now, however, things HAVE changed or are changing quick - and especially in places like the UK, Germany, and the Far East where the .TV is more natural to the eye and to the ear and firmly embedded in the psyche of the people.
In the UK one of the big TV channels is Five.TV and hundreds of TV ads use .TV domain names (although it has to be said they do tend to resolve to .com or .co.uk names) so the future does look bright for end-users.
Hopefully, domainers will learn to see the same. Last night's sale of Encyclopedia.Tv for $350 (with a full 12 months $250 premium paid for the next year) made me want to pack in all together!!!
...but as soon as I realised that as long as endusers KEEP using .TV at the rate they are then the domain community will follow sooner or later. Domainers always follow the money.
If you believe the .TV train is arriving - enjoy - and buy some names
If you believe it may have broken down - simply offload as many as you can and leave yourself with a couple of your best names.
Then everyone will be happy!
