Sure we enjoy reading DNJournal.com, but what about those domain transactions that were executed behind a mysterious cloak of secrecy (i.e. non-disclosure agreement).

What did Microsoft pay for Live.com or AOL pay for Games.com?

What is the penalty for disclosing these commercial domain transactions? Banishment to the North Pole for 20 years without food? Radioactive sushi?

I'm certain friends & families of these sellers leak this coveted domain intel.

Where are our investigative Domain Journalists!?

These are the Q's I've always been trying to find out.
Besides live.com, MS also paid for the .net and .org and what so ever.

Microsoft will arrange your unexplainable dissappearance if the secrets of the live transaction are disclosed. I want to have a look at the WayBack Machine at live.com now to investigate.

Domain Investigator, now that would be cool. I could sell secrets to DNJournal...

EDIT:

The Origins of Live.com:

Live.com started out on Feb 11 1998 as a Silicon Valley company, with applications of sorts, Internet Streaming and the like. In 2001, with the same, dated design, the layout was updated into a perdy little table. Life was quiet for live.com, until the changeover in 2005 occured, and Windows Live introduced itself to the domain. This is still in effect today.

secret is secret, you may not want other people to find out how much you are making, right?

Im willing to bet in the sale there was a non-disclosure agreement. If you knew Microsoft paid what they did for a domain name - that would give you leverage if they ever wanted to negotiate for yours! But Im sure it was a big shiny quarter for Live.com
