I found couple nice available domains with .uk.com extension. What do you guys think is this extension worth anything above reg fee ?

oh no, not again....

its not an extension, its a sub domain.....

Like you owning blahblahblahblah.com and selling me uk.blahblahblahblah.com

Worthless piece of C* apart from 2 or 3 major keywords, which im sure Gazzip and Quality will tell you all about.... :)

I think only extremely good keywords are worth anything. Or if you plan to develop and promote the site a lot, then it could be worth something. But aguiaofi.uk.com, it'll never happen :p

Don't listen to the sceptics......good .uk.com will always fetch many times reg fee but the PPC can be great too as the names optimise very well. PM me the names that you are available if I reg them I will give you 30 namepro points for each one I reg......as long term bets they are one of the only areas you can get good generic domains for $100 or less. And as afternic and sedo show you can resell them.......

Try co.uk...they are still doing well I think. :)

Quick question...can anyone reg a co.uk? Or just people living there? Have I already asked that? Sorry I can't remember if anyone answered that one before sheesh. :red:

I think .uk.com is worth buying if you get a very good keyword with it. A strong keyword .uk.com would certainly be worth more than the reg fee. Or else look for some alternatives with .co.uk extension.

You might be able to get more than regfee on some strong keywords but don't expect to buy for example a subdomain like poker.uk.com and get a x.xxx$ sale within a week. If you find a strong keyword should you expect to wait at least a year or two before you sell the name.

The problem with subdomains is that you actually do not have complete control but have to go through the organization controlling the root domain.

Not much has happened regarding the prices of subdomains and I have yet to see a subdomain sale here at NP (but I am sure it has happened). I would suggest that you rather invest in for example good .biz and .info domains which you still can get within the high xx$ - low xxx$ range and is a much more safe investment.

.EU is run by a completely different organisation than .UK

.CO.UK, .ORG.UK and .ME.UK can be registered by anyone on earth, for .EU you need a residence or company in a member state. Purpose is to keep the .EU extention in actual European hands (like mine :bingo: )

As for .UK.COM : subdomains aren't worthless per definition. The extention has its value although it is overpriced. But sex.eu.com sold for a few thousands I believe to remember, and that was a subdomain as well. Note that .UK.COM, although not as common as .CO.UK, is indeed used here, even a very famous hotel chain in England uses .UK.COM for their website. I would say you're better off with a regular domain in general, but CentralNIC are in the business for 10 years and never had issues with security or continuity, so I'd rather trust .UK.COM to exist for another 10 years than I'd trust .BF or .CO domain registries to just name two... Plus, subdomains with extentions like .UK.COM, .CO.TV or .EU.ORG are more brandable than actual domains with a weird extention lik .NF or .FK

My point is: subdomains aren't wrong per definition. CentralNIC has proven its stability, I'd say they're reliable.
