Actually, I like this one very much. To non-domainers the name might be slightly confusing or hard to remember straight, but for anyone even a little familiar with the written 'dotcom' it's very good.
And usage-wise, my brain immediately went to the same uses you suggested; can't even stretch to think of another good obvious use past either a tutorials site for getting into domaining, a resellers site for listing names for sale, a forum for resellers (like Namepros), or an info/reference site about things related to dot.extensions.
I'd say it's an inaginative name that doesn't have high, immediately visible value to resellers or end users, maybe:
res - high xx to low xxx
Nd usr - low xxx on up;
I think you'd be wasting a good name to let this one go just as a name; definitely begs some strong development because it's very snappy and pinpoints a specific audience.
