So I'm trying to speed up my friends computer because its running really slow. When i look at what programs are running the "System Idle Process" is taking up anywhere from 80-93% of the CPU usage. How can I fix that?

defrag the HDD. Usually an option in control pannel. Also do dick cleanup, and go through his Add/Remove Programs list and remove programs he dosen't use much!

:)

oh yea: tweak xp boosts your memory... I have 512 mb on my computer, and it was only using 124mb. I used tweak xp and it boosted it to 350(ish)mb... :)

system idle process is nothing to worry about. this isnt effecting the pcs peformance its just a process to tell you what %ge of the cpu isnt being used

but upgrading the memory will increase peformance.

As stated earlier System Idle Resources is nothing to worry about, the higher the better for it. More RAM will boost performace, as well check out what all programs start up on System startup, get rid of the uneeded ones starting up, as that will boost startup speed, as well computer speed since all those programs won't be running fro the get go.

Brian
