Here is my portfolio of .LA names, it makes sense to me for Los Angeles businesses just trying to figure out why the registrar hasnt promoted or why other domainers may not see the value (if any) in the ext.

I like seguro.la. Seguro is spanish for insurance.

.LA is a sleeper market. Its value wont be realised for quite some time (if at all). But of the ccTLD it is one of the better ones so it does stand a chance. The problem now is the high price for basic names and really high price for premium names.

I have:
bikinis.la
hotgirls.la

I plan to hold on to those two for a couple years before considering selling. I am also considering grabbing a couple new ones this year. The truth is that there are a lot of great names available still. The problem is renewal fees make it a high risk investment.

Curious, did you pay a premium fee for babes.la?

no premium fees. would really like some debate on this extension and the reason why it has not received more traction, the .la people arent very bright if they really dont push it to get accepted in the Los Angeles market that is their only hope for success.

I think .la is too regional, the demand is limited.

10,000,000 people in LA County, thats alot more than some countries, Will it be good for sites such as doctors.la? Who wants information on doctors in NY if you live in LA? Dont you get higher PPC on local search in a lot of cases? Thoughts to consider?

Might be 10,000,000 people here, but it's still a cctld not a 'city'tld, and unless someone takes it over and spends heavily to market it, why would the 'Los Angeles Joe Average' business/person spend the money just to have it! If no one knows of it, no one will use it!! Also, LA is the abbreviation to the state of Louisiana, so theres a confusion liability in it!

Oficially, .LA is a ccTLD for the country of Lao People's Democratic Republic.`

Will search engines treat this as a ccTLD of an obscure country or a general TLD?

The Spanish speaking population there is enormous so names like Latinas.LA stand a good chance whatever the case.

As far as I have seen Affilias (who is a big company and manages .info and others) is just cashing the checks. I wonder how long their contract is? Perhaps the people in Laos will see the big push that appears to be about to happen for .TV and decide they want the same.

It could happen.

Or not.

There does seem to be increasing interest in CCTLDs due to the unavailability of anything decent in .COM . Once you leave the safe haven of .COM all TLDs are in play. LA is more meaningful than just about any of them. But the bulk of my investment will be elsewhere.
