trying to be forward thinking

trying my hand at being the forward thinking type.

after reading this:
"Credit specialists at Citi are considering launching the first derivatives intended to pay out in the event of a financial crisis. The firm has drawn up plans for a tradable liquidity index, known as the CLX, on which products could be structured that allow buyers to hedge a spike in funding costs."

i reg'd clxindex dot com

as i said, i'm trying to be forward thinking.

does the strategy of scanning the news for things, like new financial products, to base a domain name on seem like a good idea, or a waste of time?

thanks-
michael

hey corey-

well, i did do a tm search for "clx", "citi clx", "clx index", etc.
i found nothing.

i also read in another article:
"The team is in talks with multi-dealer platforms over distribution rights, although Benzschawel expects most large banks, including Citi, to move into the market eventually. He has also drawn up a hedging strategy for sellers of the index, although he would not comment on the details."

that bit about "expects most large banks, including Citi, to move into the market eventually" made me think that citi wouldn't have a deathgrip on the term "clx" or "clx index", and that it would be in use by many different entities not related to citi.

if i'm wrong (or if it becomes a trademarked term), it won't cost anything to let it drop, and i'll end up having very little into it (reg fee).

if clx trading does take off, it could be a good one (but not as good as clx dot com).

the thing that kinda weirds me out on this is that clx is the ticker symbol for Clorox

i did see that, and thought it was a bit odd, too.
not sure why they'd do that.
in any event, i didn't think a domain or 2 in storage would be too much to maintain.

if it looks like it will fly w/o any tm issues, sweet.
if i have to let them drop, i'd probably be very glad i wasn't having to let 20 of them go.

trying to break away from established ways of thinking isn't easy.
reg'ing "clxindex" over "ilovestickygreenbuds" is counterintuitive for me.

when i look at it objectively, however, i see that it's what must happen if i want to enjoy any level of success at this.

as this is my first attempt to think outside of my own head, i have low expectations, but am hoping for the best.

ok, back to reading......

all the best-
