Hi all. Please appraise:

TryBeef.com

I bought this as it is a short brandable domain name in a lucrative industry. My idea is that a large corporation will buy it to use in their beef promotions and advertising as it is short and catchy. This is especially more so in this day and age when more and more people are moving away from beef.

Your thoughts are much appreciated.

Brandable, can it be used for targeted marketing campaigns to convert vegeterians to beef lovers? Maybe.

Another potential use is a beef jerky manufacturer that uses this brand to promote products. It is a nice name to see on the package, and beef lovers are surely going to check it out.

Last but not least, the easier way to make it profitable for yourself, is to design and build and nice website with beef based recipes and selling cooking products, knives etc as an affiliate.

Reseller price: $50 -$500 (only name, quick-sell price $50-$100, upper price will be paid if reseller has something in mind...)
Flip price: $500-$1500 (built site with nice logo and few recipes published, with some traffic, PR1-PR2)
End user price: $1500 - $3000 (I'd list it as make offer with a minimum of $1500 to counter it)

Past sales (last documented one on dnsaleprice dot com is in 2013)
Beef com $150,000
GotBeef com $3,088
GroundBeef com $16,000
KobeBeef com $5,725
CornedBeef com $5,600
PrimeBeef com $5,000
GreenBeef com $1,000
BeefCo com $2,510

It may be difficult and take ages to sell it but you never know. You can try building a list of leads and contacting them to submit offer than waiting for an offer to come through.

Best Regards,
dpan

Hi dpan, got to say what an incredble post! Very useful information and just what I was looking for. In terms of selling it on as a domain name for say a buy it now price of $1,500 on somewhere like Sedo, do you think that it would be a hard sell?

Can't really say.

It is one of those domains that includes keywords that are not frequently searched, but it is brandable for that industry.

Have you tried submitting it to a brandable names marketplace?

$1,500 BIN is right and falls into the budget of many. Listing it with this BIN price you have higher chances because people usually enable the price range filters and exclude the make offer with no price listings. You can add it with a lower price and make offer instead of BIN and see how many offer views you get; you may get a low offer too to counter it.

I would personally try to pitch a sale to companies in the industry, having compiled a list of contacts from Google searches. I would do that first and wait for some time. If that doesn't work I'd advertise a sale in forums, lower the listing price in domain marketplaces, or simply develop it to get some traffic in and try to flip it, or hold on to it if it makes its money. The more traffic and good stats it produces, the higher my listing price would be.

Best Regards,
dpan
