I did read the first post here with the 10 rules, but i'm a little unclear

Lets say i came up with a great domain name, which included the name "Sony"

should i even bother or do they own the rights?

Any advise would be great, thanks!

Yes, short answer is no... but there could be exception, for example you want to run an affiliate scheme and have permission from the TM holder to use their name. Otherwise it's risky.
