TOTAL system scan tools?

I keep getting blue screen errors and system shuts down, I've
used a bunch of free scans and such but they don't actually
remove the problems, they are just nice enough to tell me I have them (ugh)
Does anyone have a free scan that actually fixes the problems?
Or at least shows the paths where they are so I can manually remove them.
It doesn't seem to be viruses or anything like that, just seems to be either cache issues or an improperly installed program.
Here are some of the messages, (I have already exahusted google)
IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
0x0000005
0x013c0748
searching google gave me lots of free scans that tell me the issues, (mostly)
but none to remove them - any help would be appreciated.
All virus scans come back clean!
Thanks

 No scan will fix the windows operating system unfortunately, what version of windows are you running? They all have their various problems which no scan will fix, some scans will bandaid the problem but the issue is the operating system code itself conflicting with other programs etc.

My advice backup, reformat, or get someone else to reformat and reinstall the ugly beast :p

Sorry I can't be more helpful, can't remember the last time I got the blue screen of death, these days I still run windows but xp seems to be one of their better operating systems.

Thanks Jas, I am using XP and just recently went from IE6 to IE7
thinking this would solve it. It didn't. So then I got FF and still the same
only not as often. It will even shut down dreamweaver and my ftp!
Whatever the current window is that I'm in...Especially if I highlight to
copy and paste, it's almost instant then...
Ever since my hard drive was replaced I've had nothing but bugs!!!
My system was perfect before that!
I'll work on the re-install, errr someone else will D-:

thanks :)

:p yeah don't even think about it unless you 100% know what your doing, I still stuff things up sometimes and I have done it many times. You must have serious problems if xp is doing it. You can do what is called a restore, you are probably aware of this already it simply restores your system back to a previous state which sometimes can fix the problem (google "system restore xp") but most times this does not help.

The best solution I can think of to avoid a total reformat of your system is the system restore via windows xp cd. This is fairly technical but not impossible for you if you follow the instructions (no where near as hard as a format). What this does is delete all your operating system files and then replace them with fresh operating system files from the cd. It does not delete any of your data (same as standard system restore). Always good to back up anyway just incase there is an issue with the process.

Again if your interested look it up in google you will find loads of methods for restoring xp, I have personally done the cd option a few times and it worked out great for me.

All the best.
Jas.

I have watched a system restore done, but never
actually done it for myself. I will google it, I found stuff before
on it.

If you don't see me for a few days, you know I screwed it up :bah:

Thanks Jas :)

You'll be better of to reformat your system Wendy and it's not that hard at all :) You also know you have a clean system then so you don't have any malware that could be the cause of this.

A system restore is not helping if you are infected with these modern rootkit type trojans/keyloggers.

What computer are you using Wendy? A Dell system?
In that case i can guide you through it by writing down some instructions for you.

It's dead simple really.

If you have another system someone else can surely tell you what to do. In case of installing the drivers.

Do a reformat to be sure that you have a clean system.

Mornin Ed, nope, not a Dell - it's a Tagar
When I tried the system restore it wouldn't
give me a date past the current one to choose from
so I think I better be careful or I'll fry it!
A friend of mine is coming over this week to have a look :gl:
Hopefully this will resolve the issues without downtime!
Once a month is enough for me

Tagar :-/ That's a new one

Why don't give a call to tech support? and ask them how to do a reformat of your hard drive?

Check out system mechanic, I had many errors on boot with "failed this, failed that" and it fixed all those. It speeds up the boot time and shut down time. It also deleted many viruses that norton did not detect.

Give me 5 minutes alone in a room with your computer and I guarantee it'll never cause you trouble again. I'm in Jack Bauer-mode today! :tu:

I don't think you need a scanner/program to fix it anyway, it just needs some percussive maintenance (look it up on Google, basically it means beating the living crap out of it until it works) :)

I perform percussive maintenance on all my electrical products - TV, DVD recorder, computer, phone, the list goes on.... and they all work fine!
